Easter in the countryside: how to create a feast for a big family
When grandparents, aunts, uncles, children and grandchildren share the same table with Easter dishes, one might think there is no room for elegance. But think again! You can invite the whole family and the elegant spring mood as well. IKEA interior designers are willing to share some ideas on how to decorate your table and create a cosy environment without any effort.
We believe, your Easter table holds enough room for both rich menu and original (and yet so natural!) decorations. You don't need much to create a festive mood: find some vases in different sizes, colours and styles, spreading branches or dried wisps of grass, add some spring flowers and... voilà! A whole bouquet of colours and aromas is already ready to garnish your table. Actually, the composition of flowers and vases can be used not only on your table, but also above it.
No matter what place you will choose for the Easter feast, both a homestead in the countryside and an apartment in the city can be turned into inspiring setting. Use natural fabrics as a base for all your meals and decorations.
Replace paper with cloth
Replace paper napkins with VARDAGEN tea towels made of natural linen. You can fold them, wrap them or even tie them up with GIVANDE ribbon. Then, add some spring petals. Will they be natural or made of colourful MÅLA paper? It's up on you.
Prepare meals in advance
If you plan to have a big feast, you may want to start preparing meals on the eve. IKEA 365+ food containers with lids are just perfect to store the pre-cut ingredients, homemade sauces or other delicacies prepared in advance. Tight-fitting lids will keep food fresh and preserve aromas and flavours. These food containers are made of oven-safe glass and can also be used as bowls for serving. They will come in handy visiting relatives, too (in case you want to treat them with your branded salad or freshly baked cake).
Classic black-and-white expression
Have some new recipes to treat your family this year? Then set the table in such way that helps bring all the attention to your masterpieces. Simple yet timeless VARDAGEN tableware with a traditional style will frame the food on your table well. To separate your meals from guest places, use two different colours of plates and bowls. The contrast of black and white could be right to the point.
Take a fresh sip of spring
To add some refreshment to your hearty Easter meals, make room for jugs or carafes filled with naturally flavoured water. Mint and rosemary leaves, chopped dill or sliced cucumber will please your taste buds and bring greenery to the table setting. IKEA 365+ carafes and glasses are also suitable for hot drinks. To protect your linen tablecloth from spills, use coasters made of natural cork.
Feast around the table
While waiting for guests and decorating your home, consider not only the dining table, but also the furniture around it. Be creative! There is plenty of room for your delicacies and desserts, even on (and in) the chest of drawers.
Serving on different heights
If the nine drawers of BRYGGJA chest seem not enough, use GARNERA serving stands with two tiers. It is a festive way to serve for example pastries, cheese or fruit.
Make your own Easter eggs
Now when you have plenty of room for Easter eggs and traditional pastries, try adding something unexpected to your dessert table. Maybe some sweet eggs made on your own? You will need MARSIPAN, CHOKLAD MÖRK, CHOKLAD LJUS and some imagination. We believe you have just the right amount of it.
