LILLÅSEN
“A sense of home, more than a sense of office. That was my starting point when I began designing LILLÅSEN desk. The idea is to inspire a creative space anywhere at home, rather than decorating a home office. Angled legs set the design apart from traditional desks. And because most of us just need a small laptop to perform our jobs, I also made LILLÅSEN a little bit smaller than a regular desk. Easy to fit in at home – and to feel comfortable at.”
Strong, flexible and one of the world's fastest growing plants – bamboo has many uses that make it an excellent renewable material. It’s a type of grass and usually grows without the need for fertilizers or irrigation. After being harvested, it grows new shoots that are ready for harvesting after 4-6 years. At IKEA we use bamboo for items like furniture, bathroom decor, baskets and lamps – and we are constantly exploring more areas of use for this versatile material.
While students are slowly starting or returning to their student life, we share some useful tips on how to turn a temporary apartment into place that really feels like home.
Unusual and unused spaces like a hallway or under the stairs can be put to good use for working from home. Perhaps you will be surprised by how many smart solutions you can fit in to give you the workspace you need.
After a short break, our interior designer Ūla is back to the family crisis centre in Kaunas. She has already furnished several rooms and lounge areas here, but this time her task is even more interesting: she came here to furnish a cosy and private office for a child psychologist.
