Designer Inma Bermúdez

"I live close to nature and love to pick flowers in the garden. This is how I was inspired to design GRADVIS vases. I wanted to make vases with soft geometric shapes, and soothing, mild colours which are tone-on-tone. I gave some vases an unexpected feature so that it’s possible to arrange the flowers in different and creative ways. My idea is that you can combine several vases in beautiful compositions and that they can look just as beautiful with or without flowers."

What is ceramic?

Ceramic is a heat-resistant and durable material that has been used by humans to make practical objects for thousands of years. The base material is different types of clay that are oven-burned and become things like terracotta, stoneware, pottery and porcelain. At IKEA we mainly use ceramic for plant pots, porcelain, washbasins and kitchen sinks. Since it can be shaped and even glazed to the desired colour and shine, the possibilities of styles and looks are endless.

Breathe life into your living room

You may not have tons of time to spend decorating your home, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be short on style. In fact, when it comes to using flowers and vases as décor, you really don’t need to do much; a bit of nature is the easiest way to perk up a space and the simplest presentation delivers a powerful punch of beauty.

Let‘s visit our heroes for this week, Viktorija and Tomas. After living abroad for a long time, the couple decided to repatriate and settle into a new home. To make their new beginnings easier, IKEA interior designer Irina Nechvedovičienė has helped them with the renewal of their attic bedroom.

“Home idea with IKEA”: positive change in family's bedroom
“Home idea with IKEA”: positive change in family's bedroom

“This room hasn't been repaired for 15 years. The wallpapers are peeling off, the carpeting is outdated and causes allergies, and the wardrobes we have aren't enough to fit in all of our stuff,” this is how Giedrė and Vitalijus have introduced their 14-square-meter bedroom to us. See how this room has changed since IKEA interior designer Eglė Čyvė started working on it.

“Home idea with IKEA”: a brand new family’s kitchen
“Home idea with IKEA”: a brand new family’s kitchen

Mindaugas and his four children (the fifth and the eldest one returns home only during the holidays) spend a lot of time in the kitchen. This is their place for cooking, playing, and doing homework. Unfortunately, they have to use the kitchen in shifts because it is too small to fit all the family at once. Let's see what IKEA interior designer Dovilė Genytė can do to solve this issue.

You love your things, but you’re moving to a small space. You don’t have to ditch possessions to make it work. Some clever solutions and storage in unexpected locations could be the answer. Into the summery bloom
Into the summery bloom

Florals for summer may not be ground-breaking, but there are plenty of ways to incorporate them into your home in unexpected and unique ways. Whether it’s a subtle bunch of posies on a sofa cushion, a floral duvet cover to revitalise your bedroom, or a candle that fills your home with a sweet scent of jasmine, this season is all about the power of flowers.

Making memories together in a shared living space

Life gets busy, deadlines pile up and before you know it, another week has flown by. For these three, it didn’t take much discussion to decide that their living room needed to be the antithesis of life beyond their shared apartment. This is a space for connection: home to inspiring imagery, inviting textiles and – most importantly – endless restorative giggle sessions.
