Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
Meet the heroes of this week: a couple who have recently updated their living room on their own and decided to continue to the kitchen with a helping hand of IKEA interior designer Kristina Tamašauskaitė.
Elegant wooden fronts grab your eye; an inviting kitchen island calls you closer, and a freshly-brewed espresso seals the deal. Good company and really good coffee are at the heart of this kitchen’s rich and delicious design, with a mix of open and closed storage for a balance of both sleek and personal.
This week, “Home idea with IKEA” has a very special surprise. And we have not created it all alone: the three sisters decided to surprise their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Vilė by starting a makeover in her kitchen, which has not been renovated for almost forever and a day. Our interior designer Ilona was more than happy to help.
Meet Darius, the hero of this week who works in IT and usually does that from the comfort of his home. He is lucky to have a separate home office in the apartment but not entirely happy with the way it‘s furnished. Darius is dreaming of a modern and ergonomic place to work, more space for storage and a cosy reading corner to spend his free time after work. But does it mean that he should level his old room to the ground? Our interior designer Gabija has shown what can be done without major repairs.
They say the kitchen is the heart of your home. And for this week's heroines it seems to hold true. Dija and her daughter Toma from Vilnius view their kitchen as more than just a place to cook. It's where they relax, chat, invite friends over and spend most of their free time. Despite the multifunctional role, the family is not entirely happy with the current state of their kitchen space. Interior designer Asta showed up to help them renew.
