Thinking inside the box

Paper is one of our favourite materials. It's durable, versatile and lets you customise it easily. Our goal is to minimise paper's impact on the planet so we can continue to enjoy its great practical uses. That's why we work with recycled paper as much as possible, use responsibly sourced wood to make fresh paper, and design products that use less raw materials without losing any of their functionality, like the completely recyclable TJENA,TJOG and KVARNVIK storage boxes.

What is paperboard?

Paperboard is a thick and durable material that often comprises of several layers of paper and has many different uses. At IKEA we use paperboard in everything from packaging and sturdy storage boxes to games and other children's products. The paper in our paperboard is almost 100% recycled and is produced completely free from harmful substances. And when you eventually throw away your box or the children's old puzzles, the material can be recycled many times over.
