“Home idea with IKEA” returns! The first TV show of the 3rd season launches on TV3 on February 21st, 17:55. But before that, meet the upgraded team of IKEA interior designers. This season, they are ready to share lots of useful tips and ideas on how to declutter your home.
“I couldn’t imagine a neat and tidy home without constantly revising the things I own. It's easy to find the right place for each item when you only have those you really need or treasure the most.”
Eglė Čyvė, IKEA interior designer

Designer‘s advice
If you have a wardrobe in your bedroom, leave the top shelf for seasonal textiles. Use storage cases to keep clothes and beddings save from dust, and vacuum-sealed bags to fit in even more of your items.
“I couldn‘t imagine a neat and tidy home without closed storage that helps hide all the clutter away.”
Justina Koskauskė, IKEA interior designer

Designer‘s advice
Use different stationery organisers to sort the items you need while working. Avoid printing the documents that you can keep in your computer, create files and folders instead. This will help you save more space on your desk and inside cabinets, while making less impact to the environment.
“I wouldn’t imagine a neat and tidy home without sorting and grouping. It lets keep everything in order and makes it easier to find the things you need.”
Dovilė Genytė, IKEA interior designer

Designer‘s advice
If you want to have a clutter-free kitchen, start with grouping and organizing. For example, a tea strainer or honey can be conveniently stored next to tea jars. Use transparent containers for bulk foods – this will give you the impression of order and make it easier to find the products you need.
“I wouldn’t imagine a neat and tidy home without convenient arrangement of furniture and a room layout that meets all family’s needs.”
Birutė Beniušė, IKEA interior designer

Designer‘s advice
Before choosing children’s room furniture,  think about where to put all your kid’s stuff and toys. Various storage boxes and dividers will help you keep wardrobes and cabinets organized and won’t let the small childish items get lost inside large furniture.
“I wouldn’t imagine a neat and tidy home without neat owners. Just kidding! It’s all about functional furnishing and storage.”
Ilona Mozgo, IKEA interior designer

Designer's advice
Keep your living room‘s cushions and blankets in handwoven baskets, and find some decorative boxes for other small items. It is a good way to cosy up the interior. To make the most of the sofa-bed storage, use storage cases for pillows and quilts that you need on a daily basis and vacuum-sealed bags for the rarely used bedding.
“I wouldn’t imagine a neat and tidy home without multifunctional furniture. An outdoor bench with a storage box, foldable chairs that can be hung on the wall and a table that can serve for a shelf make tidying up and planning different activities much easier.”
Gintarė Gumenikovaitė-Barzdė, IKEA interior designer

Designer's advice
We tend to forget that our balcony wasn‘t made to become a pantry. Of course, you can keep things on balcony, but there should be space left for leisure, too. If your living room is connected with balcony, make them feel as one room. Use the balcony‘s walls for storage and potted plants, and choose a drop-leaf table instead of the standard one to leave the floor space for hobbies or other activities, such as doing yoga, enjoying your coffee, playing with children or reading.

“I couldn‘t imagine a neat and tidy home without storage solutions. Depending on size of your home and the items you have, you can choose either single storage boxes or a whole system.”
Mantvydas Breivė, IKEA interior designer

Designer‘s advice
Living in a 24-hour room may be challenging, but it‘s possible to overcome. Allocate your space for different activities, combine closed and open storage, and look for functional furniture, such as sofa-bed with storage or a side table on castors (they make it easy to pull the table aside when needed) with a separate shelf.
