Spending more time at home also means more cleaning, cooking and eating in your very own kitchen. But how to set up one that is friendly for you and the whole family, too? Here are some tips and tricks from our interior designers.
It all starts with planning

Think about how you normally use your kitchen and what feels comfortable for you. How many people are usually cooking at the same time? Do you need a dining table or maybe a play corner for kids? Consider it all as well as the shape and size of your space. Straight-line kitchens are perfect when space is limited, while L-shaped kitchens make the most of a corner.

Functional + chic = fantastic

To personalize your new kitchen by adding big, bold blocks of colour or pattern here and there, look for our new HASSLARP accent doors. Their pattern is made using elaborate woodworking technique and oak veneer in 3 different tones. Such door adds beauty to your kitchen’s decor while providing plenty of storage behind. To make the chic kitchen even more functional, use drawers instead of cabinets. Combined with trays and inserts, they make it easy to keep your cutlery organised.
Many drawers for many purposes

Optimize the space behind your fronts with inner drawers. They are just perfect for storing products in transparent containers - in case you want to always know what products you have and which of them are ready to be replenished. Consider having a deeper drawer under your sink as well. Since this is where most waste is produced, you can place your recycling bins there to avoid spills.
While parents are cooking...

The family kitchen has to be friendly to all its members. Dedicate some space and set up a corner for kids, so they can play around while you are cooking. When it’s time to eat, some URBAN junior chairs and grip-friendly HEROISK dinnerware made of renewable plastic might also come in handy. They’re perfect for small children who still learn how to eat on their own.
The Whole Life at Home
We believe that home is the most important place in the world. This is why every year IKEA conducts a global research called “Life at home”. This year, we have focused on exploring the impact of the global pandemic on our relationship with home now and in the years to come.
