Haven't tried the new IKEA plant balls yet? Visit the IKEA Restaurant this September to enjoy our new Italian dish with plant balls created by Gian Luca Demarco himself!

Available from the 1st of September.
What do Swedish plant balls have to do with Italy?

According to the famous chef, it's quality and sustainability that connects them. “Quality always comes first to me as an Italian. I love improvising but never move away from my principles of combining quality products in Italian way. When I see a possibility to choose sustainable alternatives, I always do. And I know that IKEA shares the same approach. This is why I really wanted to create a dish that combines their innovative plant balls with my Italian roots.”

“I love experimenting with food, creating and surprising. Thus when I heard about IKEA plant balls, it took me a microsecond to decide that I will use them to prepare Italian pasta. What else could have been expected? After all, Italian cuisine is my thing! I am eager to see people’s faces when they taste my pasta with plant balls, because I myself couldn’t believe it wasn’t meat.”

Swedish classics
The first IKEA meatballs were served in 1985. Almost three decades later, we started trading them to hungry visitors in Lithuania. This year, we are introducing another novelty - a better version of Swedish meatballs without meat.

The new plant ball is made with vegetable protein, but has the same great taste and texture as the original. Need a proof? Visit the IKEA Restaurant and try our new traditionally served plant balls.

Available from the 1st of August.
For those who love cooking
