Enjoyment is one of the eight essential needs for a better life at home. Yet, 36% of people in Lithuania say enjoyment is important to them — but don’t often experience it in their own homes. Among those who rarely or never feel enjoyment at home, just 43% say they’re happy with their current life, well below the national average of 61%. Our homes play a powerful role in our overall happiness. More than just practical spaces, they have the potential to uplift and inspire us. At IKEA, we believe everyone deserves to enjoy their home, and we’re committed to bring the joy back. That’s why this year’s Life at Home Report explores the topic of enjoyment: how it is experienced at home, how it can be achieved, and why it matters now more than ever.

Praised by founder Ingvar Kamprad as the “best of IKEA” when first launched in 1985, the STOCKHOLM collection blends durability and craftsmanship to create beautiful and timeless furniture. These newest additions are sure to become favourite parts of your home – and maybe even cherished heirlooms in the years to come.
A large family currently lives in the house built by their grandparents: mother Vaida, father Egidijus and their four children – three-year-old Žygimantas, seven-year-old Daumantas, ten-year-old Vilhelmas and fourteen-year-old Benediktas. The four brothers share a room in the attic, where they sleep, practise gymnastics, do their homework, play board games and, of course, each one wants as much space as possible for themselves and their personal hobbies! To fulfil this wish, our interior designers Gabija and Alantė came to the family home.
This week’s project is a little different—instead of a real home, we’re visiting a "second one": the shared office of two dynamic colleagues, Indrė and Eglė. They work with young people, organise events and send athletes to competitions abroad. The women have clear requirements for their workspace: they want ergonomic desks and mobile chairs, a storage solution for not only work-related items but also clothing, as well as a space where they can enjoy coffee breaks and welcome frequent visitors. Look at the transformations brought to life by our interior designer Asta!
This week’s hero, Neringa—a single mother—lives in a two-bedroom flat with three kids: her six-year-old and sixteen-year-old daughters, and her nine-year-old son. Their apartment, located in an old town building, has been in need of renovation for some time. Neringa decided to begin the makeover with the living room—the most spacious room, where she and her children spend most of their time. Here, they relax on the sofa while watching TV, store clothes and other belongings, and Neringa herself even sleeps. Thanks to our interior designers, Ema and Dominyka, the family brought their dream living room to life.
Teacher Liuda could already call her house a dream home—if not for the outdated living room that no longer meets her expectations. She and her husband spend most of their free time here, watching TV, dining and hosting their guests. What’s missing? The couple is no longer happy with their bulky yet uncomfortable sofa, the dark, uninviting space and the outdated furniture. They dream of a bright, refreshed space—and that’s exactly what our interior designers, Alantė and Jurgita, created for them.
This week’s hero, Akvilė, leads an incredibly active life with her partner. The couple loves to travel, especially skiing – Akvilė even celebrated her birthday on the slopes this year! However, when they returned home, they noticed that the bedroom, where they rest after their adventures, was too dark. The room in their old apartment lacked sunlight and had dark furniture, which they wanted to replace to transform the space into a peaceful, green retreat. To make this happen, they worked with our interior designer, Marija Neringa.
This week’s heroine, Edita, shares her home with an energetic five-year-old and their pet, Zara. The heart of their home is the living room – and that’s exactly where our interior designer, Gabija, worked her magic to give it a fresh new look.
