A porch, a shoe storage and, why not, a personal sewing studio! This week, we invite you to visit the home of Mantė and her four children, whose porch has been given a whole new life by our interior designer Alantė. Have a look!
Before the renovation
Mantė who loves sewing in her free time, used to have a separate room at home to pursue this hobby. However, recently it became a room for one of her kids. This is why she had to look back at the unfinished porch. Before the renovation, this porch served as a storage room, until Mantė decided to turn it into her sewing studio. Now it has to accommodate her desk, her sewing machine, fabrics and tools, not to mention the collection of shoes owned by a big family of five.
Getting more than expected
Alantė was given a difficult task. In a porch of just 9 square meters, she had to create two separate areas: a comfortable sewing studio for the mother and a place to store things (mostly footwear) for the whole family. Though the interior designer didn’t want to stop there. In addition to all the family wishes, she also furnished a cosy resting corner in the hallway!
More room for storage and creativity
The interior designer created a neat studio for Mantė's pastime activity and solved the issue of shoe storage without overcrowding the space. The IVAR storage system took the leading role in the renovated porch. It was customized specifically for this room and its measurements. Now the family has a dedicated place to store anything they need: there are closed cabinets for shoes, drawers for fabrics, and open shelves with boxes for scissors, threads, buttons, and other sewing accessories.
For the sewing space, Alantė decided to choose the KRILLE/ANFALLARE desk with legs on castors. It will be easy to move from one place to another, which is helpful when you need to walk around and cut or measure the fabric.
“IVAR storage system is super versatile. You can build different combinations of open shelves and cabinets, add doors, drawers, and rails, paint all pieces in your favourite colour or leave the natural wood untreated.”

A resting corner
The interior designer came up with an idea to separate one part of the porch so that the sewing room and shoe storage remain invisible. She took a clothes rack, decorated it with FEJKA artificial plants and created a smart partition. This way, now the first thing you see when you enter the porch is nothing but a cosy resting corner with a shoe bench and cushions. It is a great spot to sit down, take off the shoes and have a short break before heading home.
