This week’s hero is Samantha, who, together with her husband, is raising their three-year-old daughter. She came to us with a simple but important wish: a comfortable bed, more light and extra storage space in the bedroom. That was all it took to transform the room into a cosy spot for evening chats, bedtime cuddles, relaxing in front of the TV, and occasionally, working. The young family’s dreams were brought to life by our interior designers Goda and Agnė.

Interior designers‘ task:

  • Create a tidy, peaceful space for the family to relax.
  • Design a modern, uncluttered interior in warm, earthy tones.
  • Consider combinations of modular wardrobes to find the best solution for the family’s storage needs.
  • Relocate the TV to a more convenient position, facing the bed.

A space for relaxing, storage and work

The daughter rarely spends time in her own room and prefers being in the bedroom with her parents, so we decided the family would benefit from a large, upholstered bed. The TUFJORD bed frame is a practical solution, providing comfortable support for reading or watching TV. Plus, the space under the raised frame easily accommodates extra boxes for bedding or other belongings.

The VÅGSTRANDA mattress was chosen with the couple’s wellbeing in mind. As both parents have back issues, a firm mattress is best. To help it last longer, we also added a mattress protector.

As Samanta’s husband not only rests but also works on a tablet in bed, good-quality lighting and a bedside table were essential. A FÖRNUFTIG air purifier is a handy extra!

It’s TV o’clock!

In the evenings, the family enjoys spending time in their bedroom—lying together and watching television. Before the makeover, this wasn’t very comfortable, as they had to turn their heads to see the screen. Our interior designers solved this by relocating the TV to the foot of the bed and adding a stylish wooden cabinet with drawers and a hidden cable outlet. Now, the TV is easy to watch without disrupting the bedroom’s overall look.

Light equals cosy

We combined functional and mood lighting to make the room both practical and relaxing. Lights by the bed, above the wardrobe and inside the dressing area make it easy to find things and carry out daily tasks, while bedside lamps and a pendant lamp with a bamboo shade create a calming atmosphere. Perfect for unwinding and getting ready for a restful night.

Hiding things under the bed? Not ideal.

Before the makeover, this family’s dressing room held toys, documents, seasonal clothes and bedding—but anything that didn’t fit ended up under the bed. The clutter frustrated the husband, who preferred everything neatly out of sight. The solution? A tall, three-door PAX wardrobe with clever KOMPLEMENT interiors. Inside, shelves and a clothes rail are complemented by roomy drawers, storage boxes, a pull-out jewellery tray and a trouser hanger.

In the dressing room, we installed a modular PLATSA wardrobe. The frames in this series make the most of the space and are perfect for storing all kinds of items, with a combination of drawers, closed cabinets and open shelves.

“For a cosy, relaxing bedroom, layer your space with soft textiles—cushions, bedspreads and throws all add warmth and comfort. To make the room even more sleep-friendly, choose blackout curtains.”
