Thinking inside the box

Paper is one of our favourite materials. It's durable, versatile and lets you customise it easily. Our goal is to minimise paper's impact on the planet so we can continue to enjoy its great practical uses. That's why we work with recycled paper as much as possible, use responsibly sourced wood to make fresh paper, and design products that use less raw materials without losing any of their functionality, like the completely recyclable TJENA,TJOG and KVARNVIK storage boxes.

What is paperboard?

Paperboard is a thick and durable material that often comprises of several layers of paper and has many different uses. At IKEA we use paperboard in everything from packaging and sturdy storage boxes to games and other children's products. We strive for using recycled paper in our paperboard and the production is completely free from harmful substances.

“Home idea with IKEA”: a home office within living room
“Home idea with IKEA”: a home office within living room

A family living room or a home office for one? There's no need to choose, as both functions can share the same room. Need a proof? Watch IKEA interior designer Justina Koskauskė make it happen.

What's new in the IKEA Showroom: a working-resting-living room
What's new in the IKEA Showroom: a working-resting-living room

Our interior designers have furnished another space in the Showroom. It is a living room with a work area and a balcony that “belongs” to a 35-year-old illustrator and photographer living together with his wife. Would you like to explore their interior? Take a virtual tour now or be our guest later! You can visit this room on the 2nd floor of the IKEA Vilnius store.

Never standing still: modular furniture for a flexible living room

Night turns to day, work turns to play, people come, people go. Life is always changing, so why shouldn’t your living room? Let the welcoming living area of a large family show you how, with flexible furniture that can switch seamlessly from one activity to the next. Layered with plants and personal collections, it’s hard to believe that this inspiring space was pulled together on the tightest of budgets!

Any space will do: making a bedroom to call your own

Just like the people who inhabit them, no two bedrooms are completely alike. Small and cosy to large and lofty, storage, lighting, colour and texture are all you really need to make your bedroom a space you’ll always be pleased to enter.

What’s new in the IKEA Showroom: space for rest and interests
What’s new in the IKEA Showroom: space for rest and interests

The autumn in the Vilnius store begins with another new setup. Our interior designer Alantė has furnished a studio bedroom for a young couple. She’s 25 and cannot imagine her life without music. He is a bit older, recently graduated from veterinary school and still interested in everything related to animals and nature. And this is their home. Have a look!

“Home idea with IKEA”: a living-and-everything-else room
“Home idea with IKEA”: a living-and-everything-else room

This week we have visited the Katinai family – Andrius, Viktorija and their twin boys. We have met in the living room, but in their home, this room is not just for welcoming guests. It’s where the family spends their free time and keeps a lot of things, and while the children are playing there, Andrius and Viktorija are trying to concentrate on their work and creativity. To make sure the living room provides enough space for everyone and everything, the family asked our interior designer Anželika for help and ideas.

“Home idea with IKEA”: psychologist‘s office in the family crisis centre

After a short break, our interior designer Ūla is back to the family crisis centre in Kaunas. She has already furnished several rooms and lounge areas here, but this time her task is even more interesting: she came here to furnish a cosy and private office for a child psychologist.
