Product details

Key features

The curtains are made from 41 recycled 0.5l PET bottles. Using waste as a resource brings us one step closer to a more sustainable future.

The sheer curtains let the daylight through but provide privacy so they are perfect to use in a layered window solution.

The curtains can be used on a curtain rod or a curtain track.

The heading tape makes it easy for you to create pleats using RIKTIG curtain hooks.

You can hang the curtains on a curtain rod through the hidden tabs or with rings and hooks.

Curtains with a sheer fabric provide privacy, while letting daylight through and help you feel connected with the world outside the window.

Designer Paulin Machado

Sheer curtains are an easy and decorative way to create some privacy, even if you live in a densely populated area with windows facing the street or other houses. My idea when I designed the sheer curtains was for them to function both on their own and together with blackout curtains. I designed some with graphic patterns and others with more romantic patterns, and worked with both woven and knitted fabrics ‒ so there’s bound to be something for everyone!

What is recycled polyester?

When we create products from recycled polyester, PET bottles and other sources of polyester get a new life in products like textiles, storage boxes, kitchen fronts and even lamps. When using them, you get to enjoy exactly the same quality and function as with virgin polyester products. And naturally, they’re just as clean and safe in every way. And perhaps the very best part – you contribute to using less new raw materials too.

Sheer fabric

The sheer fabric diffuses daylight entering the room when it is brighter outside, and softens glare on TV’s and digital screens. It gives a sense of still being connected to the world outside. In the daytime, people outdoors can perceive shapes and silhouettes indoors, but at night, when the room is lit, there is no privacy. Sheer fabric is ideal for layered window solutions.

Ideas and inspiration

Before and after: bold living room for three generations
Before and after: bold living room for three generations

This three-room apartment is home to three generations: our hero Natalija, her daughter Aleksandra with her husband Daniel and the little Veronika and Bernardas. Natalija spends most of her time in the living room that hasn't been upgraded for three decades. And neither has the balcony. Over years, it has turned into a pantry and now offers anything but rest. IKEA interior designer Birutė Beniušė decided to bring back colours and joy to these two spaces.

“Home idea with IKEA”: a family living room facelift
“Home idea with IKEA”: a family living room facelift

Ieva and Vitalijus wanted to have a room suitable for both spending time with their little Elija and welcoming guests. IKEA interior designer Ilona Mozgo helped them switch their old living room to another one, featuring more space and cosiness.

“Home idea with IKEA”: a new living room for festive family gatherings
“Home idea with IKEA”: a new living room for festive family gatherings

Gailutė and Danius from Kaunas could not imagine their home without a living room. After all, this is where all their family gatherings and celebrations take place: from birthdays to Christmas. However, they have confessed that the living room they own is not the one to create a festive mood. So what to do? See how IKEA interior designer Ūla has helped them out.

“Home idea with IKEA”: small yet noticeable kitchen
“Home idea with IKEA”: small yet noticeable kitchen

They say the kitchen is the heart of your home. And for this week's heroines it seems to hold true. Dija and her daughter Toma from Vilnius view their kitchen as more than just a place to cook. It's where they relax, chat, invite friends over and spend most of their free time. Despite the multifunctional role, the family is not entirely happy with the current state of their kitchen space. Interior designer Asta showed up to help them renew.
