Having your own room is great. But having a great room is a completely different thing. Have a look at the room of ten-year-old Kipras and you’ll see how unrecognizably it has changed after the makeover made by our interior designer Kotryna.
Before the renovation
Old pieces of furniture that do not fit a boy's room, gloomy colours, a creaking sofa instead of a bed, a wardrobe that threatens to tip over at any moment, and several chests of drawers to accommodate everything from clothes to board games to school items... There is so much in this room, but none of the above fits the needs of a child turning into a teenager. What are those needs, you ask?We need to find a place for Kipras’ hobbies, personal belongings and sports awards, create a comfortable place to study and invite friends, and most importantly – to fit everything in a small space without overloading the room. Interior designer Kotryna was more than happy to take on this challenge.
Three rooms in one
When planning the upgrade for Kipras’ room, our interior designer was mostly inspired by his hobbies. The boy attends Japanese martial art called kendo and spends a lot of time gaming. Kotryna is a gamer herself, so this task was just for her. She decided to change every corner of the room, from colours to furniture to atmosphere. To make the new room both modern-looking and comfortable to live in, Kotryna divided its space into three areas: one for work, one for sleep and one for storage.
“Divide the child's room into zones with different functions: storage, learning, and rest. This way the room will always look tidy, and it will be easier to find the items you need. Plus, each zone will help the child focus on different activities.”

Bye-bye, sofa. Welcome, new bed.
The old sofa on which Kipras used to sleep had to go. It is essential for a teenager to get a good night's rest and to sleep comfortably. This is why the sofa has been switched to a new BLÅKULLEN bed frame with a slatted base and a mattress that provides a proper support. There’s plenty of space under the bed for storage boxes - perfect for storing extra quilts and pillows. Above the bed, there are some additional shelves and EKET wall cabinets. If Kipras wants to read a book before sleep, he can access them without even getting out of the bed.
Wardrobe-transformer
To accommodate all the necessary items in the room, Kotryna replaced the two chests of drawers and a small wardrobe with a large storage combination up to the ceiling. The new PLATSA wardrobe is modular, which means that its frames can be combined and transformed in different ways, just in case the current shape stops meeting the needs.
From learning to gaming
When you both study and entertain at the same desk, it’s important not to run out of space. The UTESPELARE gaming desk is larger than a regular one. It can accommodate a computer with multiple monitors and a keyboard, and there is still room left for doing homework.After the study time is over, Kipras can indulge in playing video games. We believe that a modern chair and other gaming accessories will contribute to his victories and experience. These include UPPSPEL perforated boards for controllers, a SYMFONISK picture frame with WiFi speaker, a LÅNESPELARE floor guard, a headset stand, a mouse bungee, and more.
Multicolour ISKÄRNA LED table lamps add a finishing touch to the boy‘s room. Their switching colours highlight Kipras‘ medals for sporting achievements.
